Treepak’s solutions have two main priorities. Our primary aim is to enable mass reforestation of deforested land using automated technologies to produce and deliver millions of trees. The secondary aim supports this process by choosing trees that produce a diverse range of valuable products, services and by-products that help ensure woodlands are well managed and sustainable. By generating income for the local land owners and communities, growing the trees becomes more valuable as a source of income, exceeding any value in destroying them. In this way we reverse the trend of deforestation and increase the area of forest that can absorb carbon from the atmosphere.

Treepak’s primary aim is to enable mass reforestation using novel techniques for mass producing and planting millions of trees. The net global forest area is reducing by 7.3 million hectares per year, especially in South America and Africa, significantly contributing to the carbon in the atmosphere. Treepak aims to reverse this trend of deforestation so that forests once more become a vital global carbon sink, capturing carbon from the atmosphere. |

Treepak has developed a specially designed container for mass reforestation. The container holds a variety of nutrients that will nurture the tree plantlet until the sapling is established. This ensures a much higher survival rate than traditional methods of planting. The Treepak is a narrow cone with stabilising devices to hold it upright made of translucent and biodegradable material that can be planted by hand; or by being dropped from the air. |

Our judicious selection of trees ensures we produce a wide variety of species with high value by-products. Different species flourish in different environments; and the types of trees, with their different by-products, will depend on the location of each project. Trees are selected for their natural ability to withstand insect attack, fungi, viruses and other plant pests as well as their resistance to adverse climatic conditions such as drought and poor soils. We also ensure that each project has a balanced selection of trees that increases the bio-diversity of the area. |

The Treepaks are ideally suited for mass planting by delivering the containers into their final growing positions by helicopter. The use of helicopters has a dual purpose. We are able to replant areas on a much larger scale than by hand thus speeding up the replanting process. And we will be able to reforest inaccessible areas. Replanting on this scale is essential to achieve the scale of reforestation required to reverse the trend of deforestation. |

Treepak’s strategy to enable mass reforestation is to create economic incentives to promote reforestation, reversing the trend to destroy forests and woodlands. Treepak’s operations generate income from a wide variety of sources. We create revenues from the sustainable harvesting of timber and non-wood forest products as well as the increase in land values and forests themselves. We also generate revenues from carbon credits reinforcing the invaluable role of forests to remove carbon from the atmosphere. |

In order to achieve our objectives to combat global warming using economic incentives we continuously develop and improve our skills and processes. With global deforestation accounting for 18% of carbon emissions we must continually improve our selection of trees and our technologies to mass produce and plant them successfully. Similarly, we continue to develop international markets for forestry products and by-products. These developments help ensure that we reverse the trend of deforestation bringing forests back into the front line of combating global warming. |
