The Treepaks are ideally suited for mass planting by delivering the containers into their final growing positions by helicopter. The use of helicopters has a dual purpose. We are able to replant areas on a much larger scale than by hand thus speeding up the replanting process. And we will be able to reforest inaccessible areas. Replanting on this scale is essential to achieve the scale of reforestation required to reverse the trend of deforestation.
The Treepak containers containing the chosen species of plants are loaded onto a cradle that is carried under the helicopter. These containers are dropped under gravity from the ‘Air Planting Device’; with computers managing and controlling the pattern and density required for normal forest development. The robust and simple design enables rapid reloading of Treepak containers permitting large areas to be planted between refuelling. The Treepak container is designed to be planted by hand or from the air by helicopter. The impact of planting from the air assists the tree to establish itself. Aerial delivery means that the trees can be delivered to a wide variety of locations and at a much higher rate than by hand. Many areas of potential reforestation are inaccessible, and without Treepak’s technologies would remain denuded of trees. Aerial planting is a valuable technology for mass reforestation; and helps Treepak in its mission to combat global warming.
